How many times have you misplaced or lost your phone and you wish you had not turned the ringer off? There are apps you can install on the Iphone or Android that will help you locate your phone.
On the Iphone the app is called Find my Iphone and it is free. On Android there are a few but i like wheres my Droid. Those apps are easier then ever to track down your missing phone.
The apps can turn the ringer volume up and make your phone ring. The app can also get the GPS coordinates with a link to Google maps if you’re not near enough to your phone to hear the ringer. You have the freedom to track your phone from anywhere, either with a text messaged attention word or with our online Commander.
Both apps have the option to remotely delete your data in case you really have lost it and you don’t want anyone to access your data. You can pre set the keywords for the different functionality and it will become active when you send a text message to your phone. ( ie send a text message Locate my Droid to your phone from another phone and it make your phone ring. ) you can also send a text message to turn on the GPS and it will send the coordinates to the cell phone who sent the text message.
What is really nice with the Android is that you can log on to Google play and install the app remotely.

Installed the app on my Android Samsung S II and on my daughters Samsung Ace. My daughters’s phone got stuff in the recycle box when a pile of newspaper was thrown out. Used the find my phone feature and sure enough the phone started ringing and was recuperated.
