    Hey,

FileBrowser seemed like an absolutely perfect program except for the fact that I was unable to connect remotely by specifing my external IP address. I tried everything including portforwarding 445 but nothing worked.

But then, I came across the manual and found out how to setup a VPN and access your server. And now, IT WORKS PERFECTLY!!!

Here is the link to the developer’s manual:

    http://www.stratospherix.com/products/guides/SetupForExternalAccess.pdf

It includes detailed instructions on how to setup a VPN (which is much more secure than simple file sharing.

    Essentially, the steps are:
    1. Portforwarding the VPN port on your router
    2. Setting up VPN server on Windows using its own tools (very easy)
    3. Setting up VPN on your iPad/iPhone (also very easy)
    4. Use your ipad/iphone to connect to your VPN on your computer
    5. Open FileBrowser and browse to your INTERNAL IP (as if you were on your local network) and VOILA!!!!

So now, I believe FileBrowser is an essential application to anyone’s iPad.

    Thanks for a great website,

    Rav.

    Hello,

I just wanted to say that I love the Hotappdeals app. I am on it everyday looking for apps that cost money for free. These apps/games don’t have any annoying ads and the games don’t stop half way advising that a full version needs to be purchased.

I also came across this cool app.

Hack Run – This is an awesome game that teaches the fundamentals of hacking. You are presented with a linux terminal where you must find clues and enter the appropriate commands. This game does not require you to know how to use the command line but does need you to look for clues. I recommend this game 100% for anyone who enjoys puzzles, hacking, and command lines. The free version of this game allows you to go up to level 25. The full version (I believe its $1.99) allows you to play the game completely (level 50). I have played the game for about 3 hours and I am at level 36.

So I ended up spending some more money on iTunes, but I also came across some great freeware.

    Freeware:

    1. CA Scanner: Allows you to scan many law enforcement agencies (including Toronto Police). The app is very easy to use and sorts agencies by province, city and agency (i.e.: Fire, OPP, etc.). For $0.99 you can get the PRO version which removes an ad bar at the bottom of the scanner. I give this game 3.5/5 (as it only provides one district for Toronto).

    2. Car Engine 400+: I found this app for on sale for free from HotAppDeals. This app is awesome for gearheads as it has the engine acceleration sounds from 400 different cars. I listened to some of the engine sounds from cars I know and it is accurate. There is also a version of this app that is always free but I have not tested this app. I give this game 4/5 (as it only includes performance and sports cars)

    Paid Apps:

    3. Aquaria ($4.99) – This game has had amazing reviews and I believe it lives up to its name (and price). In this game, you are a mermaid (female) and travel through underwater caves and caverns while encountering remains of an alien race. Controls are easy, all you do is point in the direction you want and the graphics are amazing for the iPad. The storyline is good and the game has many puzzles you must solve. I give this game 4.5/5 (as the main character could have been made a little more colorful)

    4. Reckless Getaway ($0.99) – This game is definetly worth it and I strongly recommend you purchase this app if you like driving games. In this game, you drive a getaway car (a yellow and black Chevrolet Chevelle SS) filled with money in the trunk from a bank you just robbed. The view of the game is from a chase helicopter and the graphics are cartoony (which make this game even more fun). The road is relatively linear, but you can off the road on either side and take dirt roads, cut through farmer’s fields, jumping ramps and collecting points. While doing all of this, you will have to evade police cars, other motorists, obstacles, and so on. I give this game 5/5!!! I cannot find anything wrong with this game.
