MusicBrainz Picard

MusicBrainz is a cross platform open source project that will automatically find and tag your unknown Mp3. Let say you have a bunch of mp3 songs in your library with no artists or tag info. The first thing I usually try is to import it in Itunes and get track names, but this not work all the time. If this fails then import them into MusicBrainz and let it search and tag it.

I tried about 10 songs and it correctly found about 5, it is not a perfect tool but it will help you eliminate the unknown albums and artists. Now the problem is how do you ensure it is the right artist if you don’t know who sings the song? What I did is I used a mobile application available on the Android or Ipad/Iphone called Shazam or SoundHound and this will find the artist.
