Clearcloud DNS web Filter

This is a web filtering utility that will protect you from malware and malicious web content.

1-Download the utility for Windows for Macintosh ( beginner solution )
2- change your DNS address to 74.118.212.1 for advanced users. Windows instructions, Macintosh instructions, Change your router DNS instructions

How is this going to protect you? well a DNS server is like a phone book, when you want to call Mike Doe, you need to dial a phone number, same thing when you want to go to Microsoft you have to go to 65.55.21.250 but when typing www.microsoft.com this translation is done in the background. By default it will look in your Internet service provider DNS server for the address and it will direct you to the web site. By changing the DNS address to clearcloud, will be your new DNS server. Clearcloud has a database of malicious websites and it will block them as you are trying to visit those web sites.

People have compared this service to OpenDNS ( see post Here ) the difference is that OpenDNS is doing content filtering such as pornography or social network sites.
