This might come handy if you need a secure connection when you are using an open access wi-fi signal or if you don’t want anyone eavesdropping on a corporate network ( considering that the corporate network allows proxies and ports forwarding )

Safehouse is an encryption tool like Truecrypt. It allows you to create an encrypted vault where you can save you data securely. You can create a self extracting volume and copy it to a usb stick and all you need to open the encrypted file is the password, you don’t even need to install the program on the other computer.

Axantum is a file/folder encryption. What is neat about this program, other than being free of course, is that it gives you a right mouse click option to encrypt the content of a folder. You can also pick a key file as part of the paraphrase.

Privacy is very critical while using computer. No computer user like their computer being explored by strangers, which may result in data theft. You can easily lock computer using a USB key drive while moving away from computer for sometime. Just remove connected USB key from the computer to lock it while stepping away from PC. Connect USB key back to unlock and resume work.
1. Download Predator software & install it.
2. Connect USB key / drive to PC & run Predator application.
3. Preferences window will open (as seen in screenshot below).
4. Enter the password for locking & unlocking of PC with USB key.
5. Select USB key drive letter from dropdown & Click Create key.

Ophcrack is a free Windows password cracker based on rainbow tables. It is a very efficient implementation of rainbow tables done by the inventors of the method. It comes with a Graphical User Interface and runs on multiple platforms.
You can burn the iso to a cd and boot the computer with the cd. The program will automatically start to crack the passwords. Once cracked the password will be diplayed on your screeen.

Here is a free solution for keeping and saving your passwords online. The program, lastpass , will add a plugin for firefox or explorer and it allows you to login securely to your websites automatically with only one click of a button. I tried Roboform in the past and liked it a lot, but i was looking for a free solution …. I tried it and loved it. It is also available for the Iphone.
